Mary Anne Staniszewski, Ph.D. is Acting Head of the Department of the Arts at Rensselaer. Her books include, Believing Is Seeing: Creating the Culture of Art (Penguin USA) and The Power of Display: A History of Exhibition Installations at the Museum of Modern Art (The MIT Press) Staniszewski is currently writing a multi-volume "portrait" of the U.S., featuring the themes of race; sex (gender); and life and death.
